LibreELEC is a Linux-based embedded operating system built so that it has ‘just enough OS for KODI’, the open source entertainment media hub. This release allows Pi Zero W users to install LibreELEC and experiment before formal support for the Pi Zero W arrives.
Zero W fixes connectivity problem by integrating more functionality into the original product. It uses the same wireless chip (datasheet) as Raspberry Pi 3 Model B to provide 802.11n wireless LAN and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. The biggest task you’ll face with the Raspberry Pi Zero W is having to solder on a GPIO header.
Embedded software is increasingly being used in IoT devices, but imperfect code can be the cause of product failures. The main concept to snap your software is that you are in control of your dependencies.
